Support research to give
every child
a quality education
Sostieni la ricerca per dare ad ogni bambino un’educazione di qualità
For over 20 years active in research and the promotion of global health for the well-being of the individual and the community.
Dear friends, this year too, for my birthday, I feel the urgency to do something, not just for myself.
I have chosen to support those who, every day, create the essential conditions for child literacy, nurture the well-being of children, and help reduce school dropout rates.
For over 20 years, Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti has been active in research and promoting global health for the well-being of individuals and the community. Through educational projects, the Foundation works to ensure that every adult becomes more aware of their own resources, role, and responsibility toward others, so that every child, everywhere in the world, can find the right conditions to fully realize their potential.
Will you help me make my dream come true?
I am convinced that a child who discovers their own value can change the world.
Thank you for your precious support,
Gloria.
THE FIGURES OF EDUCATIONAL POVERTY IN ITALY
(OCSE 2022 data)
In Italy, due to the pandemic, we have lost 300,000 students over the past 2 years
15,000 children did not complete elementary school, and another 23,000 did not finish middle school
In Italy, 10,000 young people aged 20 to 24 are illiterate
THE FIGURES OF EDUCATIONAL POVERTY IN THE WORLD
(OCSE 2022) DATA
103 million young people worldwide lack basic reading and writing skills
More than 64 million children worldwide do not attend school
If immediate measures are not taken, the current generation of students risks losing $21 trillion in lifetime earnings in present value, equivalent to 16% of the current global GDP.
Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti’s commitment to supporting children’s rights
2000
Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti was established at the dawn of the Third Millennium, with the aim of conducting neuroscientific research on human learning potentials
to promote effective education for all through Pedagogy for the Third Millennium
2004
With the Schools Worldwide program, Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti began its international activities supporting education in low- and middle-income countries. Over the years, Schools Worldwide has implemented more than 30 projects, conducted 52 pedagogical training missions for over 3,500 teachers and educators across 12 countries
2009
Assisi International School – AIS, a bilingual school combining the Montessori Method with Pedagogy for the Third Millennium, has been launched. An advanced educational model for students aged 24 months to 14 years, it pairs enriched teaching with a focus on continuous teacher training. It was recently selected as a representative institution for central Italy within the EDU National Program of the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO
2016
At the Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti headquarters in Assisi, the laboratories for neuroscientific research of the RINED Research Institute for Neuroscience, Education, and Didactics have been inaugurated. The creation of these labs enhances research on cognition and movement in educational contexts, as well as on the phenomenology of consciousness through the study of meditative practices. The aim is to improve understanding of the mechanisms that can enhance psychophysical processes, particularly in specific populations, support child neurodevelopment, and prevent neurodegeneration.
2017
Prefigurare il Futuro (PF) is a project launched in 2017 in response to the requests for help from communities affected by the earthquake in central Italy. PF is structured as a modular neuro-psycho-pedagogical training intervention that promotes positive resources and well-being even in conditions of extreme vulnerability, enhancing awareness and resilience for individuals and communities. Since its inception, Prefigurare il Futuro has reached over 200,000 beneficiaries, particularly children, young people, and families, who have benefited from interventions in four different areas.
2020
The “Prefigurare il Futuro” program is implemented with educators from the juvenile justice system in Nisida.
2021
Launch of initiatives targeting population groups in Italy experiencing socio-economic and psycho-emotional hardship, aimed at improving learning opportunities and well-being through psycho-social-educational actions supporting children, adolescents, and families.
2023
Over 350,000 hours of neuro-psycho-pedagogical research, with more than 300,000 children and adolescents reached
2024
Fondazione Patrizio Paoletti and New Life For Children have launched the new Teachers Outreach project, creating a platform based on innovative Artificial Intelligence tools entirely dedicated to training teachers and educators worldwide on the research content of Pedagogy for the Third Millennium. The goal is to ensure access to quality education, regardless of geographic location, age, or gender, for 1 million teachers by 2030.
PROGRESS IN NEURO-PSYCHO-PEDAGOGICAL RESEARCH
1904
Ivan Pavlov – The Birth of Neuroscience
At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1904, the Russian scientist was awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the “conditioned reflex,” initiating a new approach to studying the relationship between the human inner world and the external world.
1954
Paul MacLean – Discovery of the Triune Brain
Between 1949 and 1954, he revisited J. Papez’s theory of emotions by integrating evolutionary evaluations, proposing—based on functional and phylogenetic (evolutionary) considerations—a triune brain: reptilian-instinctive, limbic-emotional, and cortical-rational.
1972
Gregory Bateson – The Ecology of Mind
In the book “Steps to an Ecology of Mind,” 1972, Bateson applies cybernetics to the field of ecological anthropology and the concept of homeostasis. By comparing the brain and the mind to an ecological system, he highlights the same rules that govern both.
1972
Francisco Varela – First-Person Science
Starting in the 1970s, Francisco Varela, together with colleague Humberto Maturana, developed the concept of the autopoietic system as a network of processes of creation, transformation, and destruction of components that, interacting with each other, continuously sustain and regenerate the system itself. He promoted the concept of “first-person science,” according to which the researcher must investigate their own consciousness through experimental verification.
1983
Howard Gardner – The Theory of Multiple Intelligences
His proposal challenges the traditional view of intelligence as a single factor measurable by IQ, replacing it with a more dynamic definition, articulated into logical-mathematical intelligence, linguistic intelligence, spatial intelligence, musical intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, and existential intelligence.
1984
Michael S. Gazzaniga – The Interpreter
In 1984, Michael S. Gazzaniga published “The Social Brain,” presenting for the first time the idea of the “interpreter,” a region of the left hemisphere responsible for creating coherent explanations for the fragmented nature of experience.
1989
Peter Salovey and John Mayer – The First Definition of Emotional Intelligence
In 1989, Peter Salovey and John Mayer defined this form of intelligence as: “The ability to monitor and manage one’s own and others’ emotions and to use them to guide thought and action.”
